Springing into New Beginnings

ree
"See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me." Song of Solomon 2:11-13

As I mentioned in a previous post, this past year was difficult. In fact, it was just plain weird. God exposed so many of the crevices of my heart to His righteousness and showed me areas where I needed to change, heal, and work through so many things. He kept pulling me out of things, so that I was forced to take a step back and rest. It was a season of deep rest and healing appropriate for winter, a season for "hybernating" and literally sleeping more. It was a season to be inside and just replenish my soul in Him.

Then this past Monday came, the first day of Spring, the season of hope and new beginnings; and I stretched my wings and opened my heart like a flower turned toward the sun. God, can this be a fresh start for me?

There is still healing and rest that needs to happen in my soul. These things take time, but I am so thankful for the hope that longer days, baby animals, and budding flowers bring. I am so excited to buy new plants for my balcony garden and take walks and soak up the sun. I am so excited to get to see my life unfold as I heal and lean into my dependence on my Savior in new and deeper ways.

Maybe you can relate? Maybe you felt like this last year was a crazy hot mess, and your heart got jumbled up. Maybe you are desperate for hope too. Maybe you are starting to see God work in unexpected ways, and you're expectant for the outcome of the momentum that is building. Maybe He's put a new dream in your heart. Maybe you're stepping back and this new season is a season of deep rest and surrender to Him. Whatever about this season is new, I pray that He overwhelms your heart with hope and joy in the process. May you deepen your love of life as you turn your face to the Son on this bright new spring day. May you feel the anticipation of His redeeming power. So, take a deep breath of the spring air and brace yourself. Here comes the adventure!

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or thing, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen" Ephesians 3:20
